The Summit of the Three Basins will be held in Brazzaville in October 2023

With the Amazon, the Congo Basin and South-East Asia accounting for 80% of the world's tropical forests and two-thirds of the land biodiversity, the Summit of the Three Basins will be held in Brazzaville from October 26 to 28, 2023.

The Summit of the Three Basins will be held in Brazzaville in October 2023

The central vision of the Summit for the preservation and restoration of the planet’s three ecological lungs is based on the following objectives :

  • Promote scientific and technical cooperation, strengthen capacities, and increase influence in multilateral forums for environmental advocacy.
  • Establish effective global governance to manage environmental and climate challenges on a planetary scale.
  • Develop a common strategy to stimulate investment projects aimed at combating climate change and preserving biodiversity.

The Summit will be organized around three sessions: a technical session on October 26, a ministerial session on October 27, and a high-level session on October 28. Regional and global governance, integrated investment plans, financial mechanisms and the carbon market, and scientific cooperation will be the main topics of discussion.

The ATIBT will be closely following this event, which provides an excellent opportunity to work together at international level to achieve ever more effective sustainable management of tropical forests.

A website, still under construction but already very complete, brings together information on the three basins and the organization of the event.
