ATIBT is launching an important market study to gain a better understanding of the end-use segments for tropical timber in five European countries. Conducted by Stichting Probos, the study will support efforts to strengthen the position of sustainably sourced tropical timber on European markets. Professionals across the timber value chain are invited to contribute by completing a short country-specific survey. Your participation is essential to ensure that the study accurately reflects market realities.
Sustainably sourced tropical timber is facing a number of challenges on European markets, including complex value chains, regulatory pressures, a sometimes negative image, and competition from alternative materials.
Yet sustainably sourced tropical timber gives direct economic value to tropical forests, thereby contributing to their protection. Supporting sustainable tropical timber value chains is therefore essential.
To help strengthen the position of sustainably sourced tropical timber in Europe, including through ATIBT’s Fair & Precious programme, an up-to-date picture of the main end-use segments for tropical timber is needed.
ATIBT has therefore commissioned an important market study, carried out by Stichting Probos. As part of this work, a short survey has been developed for five European countries: Germany, France, the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg. Its aim is to provide a clearer picture of the markets and end-use segments for tropical timber in these countries.
