Hevea is an exotic timber species native to the Amazon. It was then widely planted in South-East Asia and then in Africa. The wood is first creamy white, before becoming light brown. Once it has received a suitable preservative treatment, the tropical wood hevea is used for many purposes (interior joinery, paper pulp, furniture among others). Hevea is best known for being the rubber wood: it is its latex that is used to make rubber.
