BVRio has expanded its timber due diligence series with the release of the Practical Guide to Conducting Due Diligence of Tropical Timber Products for Republic of Congo. The guide enables buyers to purchase tropical timber products from Republic of Congo responsibly and comply with existing regulations.
The series of guides was created to clarify the legalities and documentation needed for importing timber from different countries into the US and European markets. It is one of BVRio’s timber legality verification tools to enable wood traders to screen out illegal timber from their supply base and, through demand-side pressure, help combat illegality in the sector.
In each of the guides you’ll find a list of the main documents along the supply chain, real samples of these documents and how to interpret them, and a summary of the main risks associated with timber legality in each country.
