A very new Timber Trade Portal!

The TTP, ATIBT due diligence information platform, has been completely redesigned to bring more clarity and better ergonomics. Country profiles have been added, some have been revised, and the website has been translated into Chinese.

A very new Timber Trade Portal!

Since the beginning of 2021, ATIBT has been implementing a project funded by ITTO and with technical assistance from Form international to update the Timber Trade Portal information platform.

It is a unique platform, now exclusive property of the ATIBT, that aims to provide an independent and clear overview of relevant country-specific information to support importing companies in their due diligence processes. It thus answers many questions that actors in the sector have about the legal timber trade, due diligence, country-specific requirements and export.

Since December 13, 2021, the new website is online. This new version is more dynamic, more user-friendly, with content adapted to the search for information on the forestry context and regulatory requirements of producing countries to meet the requirements of due diligence. It offers a more contemporary design, adapted to cell phones, and improved ergonomics. Navigation is clearer, and offers easy access to country profiles and other resources.

The website has also been fully translated into Chinese, so it is now available in 3 languages (with French and English).

The presentation of the country profiles has also been revised, offering 6 sections of information:

  • The general and forestry context of the country ;
  • Overview of the forest- wood sector;
  • The presentation of the legal and regulatory framework applicable to forest management and exploitation, processing and trade of wood;
  • The presentation of the key documents of legality, with examples of documents (which will be step by step completed);
  • Other aspects of legality, such as bans, quotas, etc.
  • Other sources of information and useful contacts

This new website also includes more information (resource pages) to access other tools to make a risk analysis of procurement, such as certifications, link to other information platforms, etc.

It also provides regularly published news on regulations targeting the timber trade, regulatory frameworks in producing countries, etc.

6 new country profiles have been added: Thailand, the Solomon Islands and Colombia (already on line), and Japan, the Philippines and Cambodia (under progress). And 2 country profiles have been revised, Congo and Ivory Coast, whose publication is still pending.

This new website is therefore more targeted to the primary users of the site, namely importers and competent authorities, with easier access to information.

It has been redesigned with the technical support of the web agency 6LAB.

The information contained in the country profiles on this website is regularly reviewed and updated by independent experts, and ATIBT will be seeking additional funding to keep the website up to date and expand it.
