FSC® International

Our members include some of the world’s leading environmental NGOs (Greenpeace, WCS, WWF and ZSL), leading businesses for sustainable development (Ikea, Tetra Pak, Mondi, Sappi, SIG Combibloc, The Walt Disney Company) and social organizations aiming to safeguard the rights of indigenous people and local communities.

The Forest Stewardship Council also welcomes forest owners and managers, processing companies and campaigners, and individuals. Together these diverse voices define best practices for forestry that addresses social and environmental issues.

The membership consensus sets the FSC® Principles and Criteria - the highest standards of forest management which are environmentally appropriate, socially beneficial and economically viable. In 2018, FSC® certified forests represent in average 13% of forest estate of Cameroon, Gabon and the Republic of Congo (Brazzaville).

It has been independently showed that FSC® certified companies from Congo Basin do have, globally, a significant positive impact on local communities and indigenous people living in and close to FSC® certified concessions (CIFOR, 2012).
